Ten years after pioneering the concept of the privately owned gym, it was time to expand. In 1979 Bob met Cindy Randall, a former springboard diver. At that time Cindy had been coaching gymnastics for four years and had become as passionate about the sport as Bob. Together they formed a corporation and opened Gymnastics USA in a small strip center on Jones Road. Cindy managed the Jones Road location and Bob continued to manage the Spring Branch location. After a successful first year, they took their partnership to the next level and were married in July of 1981.

Two years later, in 1983, the couple purchased the property at 10903 Tower Oaks, and built the facility that continues to serve northwest Houston today. A portion of the building was leased to the Carolyn Roberts Dance School, allowing Finch's Gymnastics USA, Inc, as it was now called, to offer both gymnastics and dance classes in a beautiful new air-conditioned building.

During this era of expansion, the Spring Branch location was moved to a new facility in Bear Creek, and an additional gym was opened on Louetta in the Klein area. After a couple of years they decided it was time to downsize the business and upsize their family. The Bear Creek location was sold to Johnny & Dave Neiman, which became "Neiman's Gymnastics School". The birth of their two daughters, Shelly and Kelsie, gave them a new focus to pour their energies into. The addition of these two little girls drove home their belief in the importance of quality daycare, and a new dream began.

In 1986 Bob and Cindy began to offer other programs for children. The land behind the gym was cleared and a fully stocked fishing pond and pier, athletic fields and pool were added. Bob retired from coaching and focused on building and promoting a summer camp and swimming program. His success and the many requests to continue the summer camp year round moved the Finch's into the final stages of their transformation. Carolyn Roberts moved her dance studio across the street and that area was taken over to build pre-school rooms. In 1988 Finch's Gymnastics USA was licensed for childcare.

For over 30 years Finch's Gymnastics USA and Childcare has continued to be a premiere facility, offering both developmental and competitive gymnastics, martial arts and swimming instruction, a highly rated pre-school curriculum, and an after school and summer camp program with a sports-minded theme designed with the older child in mind. We continue to be a family-run business - Sunnye Finch Kirkland was employed for a while as a swimming instructor; Brett Finch continues to coach boys gymnastics; Kelsie Finch lifeguards during the summer; and now Shelly Finch Avery has joined the team full time as assistant daycare director. We are extremely proud of our staff and the care and concern they give each and every child who walks through our door. The success of the program can be attributed to the one driving force behind it all - the love of children and the realization of what a positive impact a nurturing environment can have.
